colour scales
greyscale

final greyscale
.jpeg)
the greyscale was a little challenging because of the number of samples that looked alike towards the darker side of the scale.
this was the first scale so it also took more tries to get the consistency of the paint just right.

final colour scale
this scale was one of the assignments that i enjoyed the most. the red and pink chips turned out very consistent and the colours looked beautiful.

this scale was was also interesting to work on because of the rich shades that were produced on mixing red with black.

exploration

a) scale with india ink
this gave a water colour like effect and resulted in dull colours.

b) contrast
this was a smaller greyscale with circles of the center most shade to show contrast against different backgrounds

c) lipstick stains that were imprinted on paper after one application of lipstick to the lips. this showed the reduction in pigment after each imprint.
learning from mistakes
.jpeg)
the first attempt to the grey and colour scales was done with acrylic paints which resulted in very patchy application. moreover, the darks looked extremely dark and there was not a gradual change in color throughout the scale.
